The Hermes Home Delivery Service publishes White Paper on the growing market of balcony power plants

The Hermes Home Delivery Service (HES) has been intensively involved in a new market segment for more than a year. Balcony power plants are in high demand as they provide sustainable and autonomous electricity supply in private households. However, the start into “green energy production” is only successful with smooth logistics and professional installation. Therefore, HES has now published a White Paper to inform retailers about current developments, future legislative changes, and the range of services offered by HES.

With a current White Paper, the Hermes Home Delivery Service provides an overview of the growing market for balcony power plants and aims to encourage retailers from various sectors to engage with this promising technology. The functioning is based on the principle of photovoltaics: high-performance modules capture sunlight and convert it into electrical energy. These innovative power packs can be easily installed on balconies, terraces, or other suitable areas.
As usual, the Hermes Home Delivery Service considers the entire value chain, as delivery and final assembly are important milestones on the way to making this type of energy production suitable for the masses: “We are convinced that the topic of balcony power plants is not a short-term trend, but rather the beginning of a sustainable solution ‘in miniature’. We will seize this opportunity to meaningfully and intelligently complement our already very broad service portfolio, to provide an excellent shopping experience in this area as well,” says Sebastian Britto, Head of Sales & Key Account Management.

Accordingly, HES already delivers several thousand balcony power plants per year and plans to deliver significantly more in the future. However, only modules that have been tested and meet the necessary standards are delivered.

An additional boost is provided by the exemption from value-added tax, which has been in effect since last year. This tax relief makes the investment in a balcony power plant even more attractive and underlines the importance of this technology for the energy supply of the future.
“In this positive market environment, new opportunities arise for consumers to actively participate in the energy transition and at the same time benefit from the economic advantages. Balcony power plants are thus not only a contribution to environmental protection but also a worthwhile investment in a sustainable and self-determined energy future,” explains Sebastian Britto.
HES services include a variety of services aimed at facilitating the installation and operation of photovoltaic systems. This includes the pre-assembly of the module mounting to ensure a smooth installation. Furthermore, the logistics experts take care of the precise attachment of the inverter according to the manufacturer’s instructions at the intended location.
The actual mounting of the PV modules is then carried out by an experienced team that securely attaches the elements to the designated mounting points of the module holder. This can be done on level ground (terrace or garden) as well as on balconies. If necessary, special brackets are required, which the teams carry with them if needed.

An important aspect is the safety and stability of the installation. Therefore, the installation teams ensure that the balcony power plant is weatherproof and reliably fixed. This can be done by various methods, including anchoring to the ground or the balcony itself, as well as weighing down with the customers’ existing materials, such as washing concrete slabs.
With this service offensive, the Hermes Home Delivery Service aims to accelerate market growth as a logistics player and to achieve similar scaling effects for retail partners as the service expert based in Löhne has already achieved in the furniture and household appliance segment.
