In our \u201cHES Inside: People Who Make a Difference\u201d series, we introduce colleagues from different areas of the company and diverse professional backgrounds. They all contribute their expertise, commitment and personality to ensuring smooth logistics processes and satisfied customers. This time, we introduce Patrick Kubasik, a senior IT trainee. With his experience and passion for technology, he supports our entire team in their day-to-day work while actively driving innovation forward.<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t

From Industrial Mechanic to IT Specialist\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Patrick began his professional career with an apprenticeship as an industrial mechanic and has more than ten years of experience in this field. He had been fascinated by computers and IT since childhood, which eventually led him to turn his hobby into a career. \u201cA former colleague recommended that I apply to Hermes Furniture Delivery Service, and it was the right decision,\u201d says Patrick.

He particularly appreciates the respectful working environment, the freedom to contribute his own ideas and the support he receives during his training. \u201cThe collaboration is varied and appreciative. I also really value the strong customer focus. Through direct and indirect interaction with customers, I have the opportunity to meet their expectations and contribute to their satisfaction.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Responsibility at the IT Service Desk<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\"HES\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

In his role at the IT Service Desk, Patrick supports colleagues with all software- and hardware-related queries. His core responsibilities include handling requests in first- and second-level support, rolling out and adapting new software, and replacing hardware.

He is currently focusing intensively on his final project: a virtual learning environment for IT trainees. \u201cThe platform is designed to digitally replicate practical scenarios and enable flexible learning from anywhere. In this way, I want to help make IT training even more efficient and further adapt it to the requirements of the IT industry.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Technology as the Key to the Future<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Patrick sees the future of bulky goods logistics as being strongly shaped by digitalisation: \u201cThe use of artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT) and automated warehousing and transport systems will continue to increase. This will enable logistics processes to be planned, monitored and managed more efficiently.\u201d

He also sees e-commerce and last-mile logistics becoming increasingly important: \u201cCompanies need innovative solutions to make deliveries even faster and more customer-friendly.\u201d

Day-to-day work at the IT Service Desk also benefits from digital solutions: \u201cSmart tools and applications such as automated ticketing systems and knowledge bases help us process requests more quickly. At the same time, remote working allows us to work much more flexibly.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Opportunities for Young Talent in Bulky Goods Logistics<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Patrick is a great example of the diverse career paths available in logistics. He advises young people to remain open to the industry and develop an interest in logistics processes and technological developments. \u201cWorking in bulky goods logistics helps develop important soft skills such as teamwork, communication and problem-solving, which are in demand across many professions today. At the same time, demand for logistics services is growing, particularly in e-commerce and the furniture and home furnishings sector. This opens up many exciting career opportunities,\u201d says Patrick.

One of the most important lessons he has learned throughout his career is the value of clear and transparent communication. He has also learned that mistakes provide valuable experience and that, even in difficult situations, it is important not to give up and to always keep the goal in sight. \u201cIt certainly helps to be able to laugh at yourself from time to time.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

For Patrick, it is clear that close collaboration within the team and across the entire company benefits not only young talent.
