Our corporate headquarters is located in Löhne, Westphalia. Approximately 230 employees manage our logistical processes in Germany and neighboring countries from here. Sustainability was a key focus during the construction of the modern administrative building. Heating and cooling are operated through geothermal energy, lighting is consistently done using LED technology, and all materials used were selected based on sustainable production and recyclability according to the guidelines of the DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council).
Key to our comprehensive and high-performance level of service and quality, even on the last mile, are long-term partnerships with our approximately 50 depot partners in Germany. Other quality features include qualified and regularly trained staff and very low turnover. The depots are managed by independent entrepreneurs who bring years of experience from the furniture logistics or moving industry.
Our two new main logistics center in Germany, which we opened in 2016 and 2020, are among the most modern and largest centers in Germany. Located in the north of North Rhine-Westphalia (Löhne) and in western Bavaria (Ansbach near Nuremberg), these sites are strategically located hubs for the integration into our logistics process and the distribution to our comprehensive depot network.
Our logistics centre in Löhne, North Rhine-Westphalia, has 100,000 m² of warehouse space, making it one of the largest logistics centres in the region. Every day, we load more than 200 trucks with up to 30,000 items of furniture and other bulky goods for onward transport to our depots in Germany, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland. Opened in 2016, the facility specialises in the logistics handling of furniture and large electrical appliances.
We operate the logistics centre in cooperation with Hermes Fulfilment. Hermes Fulfilment is responsible for warehousing, while Hermes Einrichtungs Service manages the handling of goods. By combining warehousing and goods handling at one location, internal processes can be organised efficiently and processes related to two-man handling can be consolidated.
Our range of services at the site also includes returns management. On an area of 20,000 m², returned items are inspected, reconditioned or repaired by our colleagues at Hermes Fulfilment before being returned to storage.
In 2020, a second Hermes logistics centre was opened in the Ansbach-West industrial park near Nuremberg. Covering a total area of 76,000 m², the site is used to store and handle goods for our clients.
In the 90,000 m² logistics center near Poznań, in the heart of the Polish furniture industry, up to 500,000 m³ of furniture, beds, and white goods from Eastern European furniture suppliers are delivered, stored, and handled annually. The deliveries and shipments per day are consolidated and directly forwarded to our depots for end customer delivery. This offers significant advantages, including reduced transportation costs, improved flexibility and transparency in the flow of goods, and shorter lead times between manufacturers and end customers.
Our network extends far beyond the borders of Germany. With our extensive European 2-man-handling network, we deliver to Belgium, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Austria, and Switzerland in well-established partnerships.
