A total of 101 runners laced up their running shoes on Sunday and participated in the 3rd Hermes Charity Run for a good cause. “It’s just great that we were able to welcome so many participants again this year. Our goal was to break the 100 mark, and we achieved that!” says Vera Dyck, PR Manager at Hermes Einrichtungs Service, adding, “Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone who ran for a good cause today, and especially to the numerous volunteers without whom our Charity Run would not have been possible.”
At 11 a.m., the charity run, initiated and organized by employees of Hermes Fulfilment and Hermes Einrichtungs Service, started at the Hermes logistics center in Scheidkamp. “After the success of the 2nd Hermes Charity Run last year, it was immediately clear to us that there would be a 3rd edition. The Charity Run is a matter of the heart for us, and we want to give something back to the people here in the region with our local engagement,” reveals Michael Dildey, Managing Director at Hermes Einrichtungs Service.
Under optimal running conditions, participants started on either the 10 or 5-kilometer course, depending on their fitness level. The fastest to return to the finish line over the longer distance were Mareike Schürmann and Daniel Wimmer. On the shorter route, Reikja Krause and Tobias Hohmeier left the competition behind and crossed the finish line first. In the company ranking, the runners from Remmert GmbH outperformed those from Hermes Einrichtungs Service and the team from TG Werste. Remmert thus defended their title and got to take home the trophy again.
Since the course layout, which the organizers had already devised for the 1st Hermes Charity Run in collaboration with the runners from TuRa Löhne, proved successful, it was adopted for the 3rd run. Nevertheless, “Without the fantastic support from the members of TuRa Löhne, the event would not have been possible. Therefore, I would like to sincerely thank everyone for their help,” emphasizes Susanne Werner, Assistant to the Operations Management of Hermes Fulfilment. But even without the many volunteers from their own ranks, the charity run would not have been organized. “We are very proud that our colleagues are so aware of their social responsibility and have agreed to support this wonderful event in their free time,” Werner highlights.
The total proceeds from entry fees, the sale of drinks, sandwiches, cakes donated by employees, and an additional 1 euro per kilometer run will be rounded up by Hermes, so the outdoor pool in Lohe, Bad Oeynhausen can look forward to a total of 3,000 euros.
